Join the City of Santa Monica, Public Landscape Division, in celebrating Arbor Day 2025 as we plant 18 trees on the Olympic Blvd median. Trees planted will be a mix of California native species such as the Valley Oak, Coast Live Oak, Torrey Pine and Western Sycamore. There will be a brief speech on the importance of Arbor Day, the reading of a proclamation and a training on proper tree planting. Tree planting takes place on April 24, 2025. Please arrive by 8:45am, event starts at 9am promptly. The event will conclude at 12pm. Meeting Details: Meet at the corner of 16th St and Olympic Blvd. There is paid street parking nearby. Nearest public parking lot is near the Memorial Park Gymnasium. Carpooling/ public transit is encouraged. What to Bring to Volunteer: • Closed-toed shoes • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty in • Please bring your own refillable water bottle. • Recommended: Gardening-type gloves. We will have a limited number available to borrow. Note: Due to the location of this event, all volunteers must be 18+ years old.
